The first trip I ever took to London was way back in 78. the first place I went was Westminster Abbey. Back in 1978 the stone was mostly black from decades even centuries of pollution. Its so cool they keep those historic buildings clean so you can see how it looked to the people that originally built it. But Emma you do have to use your imagination a bit inside because when they were built before the staid and dull Protestants took over, the inside were very colorful. Walls, ceilings, columns were painted and there were lots of statues of saints and shrines with relics. That all had to go when religion got intellectualized. So next church imagine it all painted up.
